In a bid to enhance project delivery, especially in road infrastructure, the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, and the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, have initiated discussions to remove administrative bottlenecks.
The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, aimed to streamline public procurement processes for efficient and timely project delivery.
Umahi emphasized the need for a new paradigm of seamless bureaucracies, stressing that bureaucratic constraints must be eliminated to achieve innovation, efficiency, and economy in the road infrastructure revolution agenda.

He sought closer cooperation and collaboration to fast-track the delivery of road infrastructure projects, introducing innovations to ensure enduring road infrastructure that is fit for purpose.
The Minister highlighted the importance of different procurement methods, including restrictive, selective, and competitive bidding measures, in achieving value for money and effective service delivery to Nigerians.
Dr. Adedokun commended Umahi for his initiatives and assured the Minister that the BPP is prepared to support enhanced synergies with the Ministry. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to discuss procurement challenges and emphasized the importance of working together to achieve logical completion of projects.
The BPP DG noted that the Ministry of Works is critical to the government’s objectives, and its success or failure has a direct impact on the President’s reputation. He stressed the need for close collaboration to deliver high-quality roads that can last for 25 years or more.
The meeting was attended by key directors from both the Ministry and the Bureau, including Engr. Bede U. Obioha, Director Highways Bridge and Design, and Nasir M. Bellow, Director of the Bureau of Public Procurement.
By tackling administrative bottlenecks, the Ministry of Works and the BPP aim to improve project delivery, ensuring that road infrastructure projects are completed efficiently, effectively, and to the highest standards.
