Kwara State has just received a significant boost in its transportation system, courtesy of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI).

The state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has taken delivery of 20 gas-powered buses and 20 tricycles, which will be used to support the public transport system at a discounted cost to the people.

This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on the populace. The governor expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leadership of the PCNGI, and his team for their progress in this regard.

The gas-powered buses and tricycles will not only provide affordable transportation but also promote a cleaner environment.

The state government is also partnering with B-One Mobility Limited to set up an assembly plant for gas-powered tricycles, which will create jobs and stimulate economic growth.

In fact, the CEO of B-One Mobility Limited, Mr. Atul Saraf, revealed that the program will create 5,000 direct and 9,500 indirect employment opportunities. The company’s vision goes beyond job creation, as they aim to introduce a holistic mobility ecosystem solution that includes utility vehicles, garbage tippers, ambulances, and firefighting equipment.

The federal government’s target is to convert about 1 million vehicles from petrol to CNG, and Kwara State is one of the pioneers in this initiative. The Executive Vice Chairman of P-CNG, Mr. Toyin Zubair, assured the state of the federal government’s strong partnership and investment in establishing more conversion centers.

This development is a testament to the governor’s commitment to providing affordable and clean transportation to the people of Kwara State. As the state continues to navigate the gradual shift to cleaner energy, this initiative is a significant step in the right direction.
