The Rivers State House of Assembly has adjourned its sittings indefinitely thereby jeopardising the possibility of the House preparing for the planned budget presentation by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The decision to adjourn legislative duties indefinitely was reached during plenary in Port Harcourt on Friday, which was presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon Martin Amaewhule.
This development came as the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara on Thursday wrote to the Speaker informing him of his intentions to visit the House to present the 2025 Appropriation Bill for consideration and approval.
The presentation of the budget is scheduled for the 29th of March after a failed attempt on Wednesday when the Governor was locked out of the Assembly Complex. Recall that the House had issued a 48-hour ultimatum to present the 2025.budget as ordered by the Supreme Court in its recent judgment
