The President of the Lagos State Cooperative Societies Federation (LASCOFED), Barr. Oladipo Shobule, has outlined the organization’s progress and future plans for cooperators in Lagos State.

Speaking at the Town Hall Meeting with Cooperators in Apapa Local Government Area, Shobule highlighted key achievements and initiatives aimed at empowering cooperators.

Participants comprise of cooperators from Amuwo Odofin, Ajeromi Ifelodun and Apapa Multi-purpose Cooperative Unions. The three Unions co-hosted the meeting in continuation of the ongoing Town Hall meeting by Lascofed President, Barr Shobule and his President-in-Council  to all cooperative Unions in the state.

According to the President, the Cooperative Resort Center project at Mojoda, Epe, is making steady progress, with the processing of the Certificate of Occupancy at an advanced stage and physical possession of the land secured. The resort center, expected to be a hub for leisure, training, and cooperative activities, will be a source of pride for Lagos cooperators.

Shobule also emphasized the importance of resolving disputes internally through the Membership Committees, rather than escalating issues to the department. He urged cooperators to avoid conflicts and adhere to best practices.

The President highlighted LASCOFED’s efforts to engage youths in cooperatives, citing the online meetings and training sessions on leadership and digitalization. The upcoming Lagos State Congress of Youths in Cooperatives will provide a platform for young cooperators to share ideas and get mentorship opportunities.

LASCOFED has also partnered with CWG plc to deploy the Unified Cooperative Platform (UCP) solution, aiming to digitalize cooperative operations. A training session on investment opportunities will equip cooperators with the knowledge to navigate investment options wisely.

The President announced the upcoming End-of-Year Conference, scheduled for December 4-7, 2025, with early bird discounts available until October 31, 2025. He encouraged cooperators to take advantage of the discount and register for the conference.

The President expressed gratitude to cooperators for their support and reaffirmed LASCOFED’s commitment to building a strong and model cooperative sector.

“Let us take advantage of the early bird and also take note of the final date for registration,” Shobule urged, highlighting the need for adequate preparations for the conference. With these initiatives, LASCOFED is poised to further empower cooperators and strengthen the cooperative sector in Lagos State.
