The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, has emphasized the need for an Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Corporate Governance in Nigeria. According to Abass, such an institution would have a significant impact on the country’s peace, prosperity, and stability.

Abass made this statement during a public hearing on a bill aimed at establishing the proposed institute.

He highlighted the importance of equipping Nigeria’s large population of unemployed youths with various skills to drive entrepreneurship and economic growth.

The Speaker noted that many businesses in Nigeria face challenges in scaling up, improving productivity, and expanding their services. He attributed this to a lack of structured leadership and entrepreneurship training.

To address this gap, Abass proposed the establishment of the Chartered Institute of Business Educators of Nigeria (CIBEN). This institution would focus on advancing business education, training, and practice in Nigeria, ensuring that educators are well-trained and competent.

The House Committee on Commerce, led by Ahmed Munir, also considered the bill establishing CIBEN. Munir emphasized that the proposed institute aligns with the legislative agenda of the 10th House of Representatives, which seeks to improve the lives of citizens through effective governance and entrepreneurship development.
