Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman has officially assumed office as the Acting Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), receiving a warm welcome from management staff.
Prof Usman popularly called Pakistan is tasked with the critical responsibility of piloting the commission towards a successful Hajj for Nigerian pilgrims.
As Prof. Usman steps into his new role, he faces the daunting challenge of addressing previous issues that have plagued the commission, including corruption allegations, mismanagement of funds, a lack of transparency among others.
With another Hajj just eight months away, the pressure is on to ensure seamless preparations.
Prof. Usman’s immediate priority will be to restore confidence in the commission and ensure accountability in its operations. His leadership will be crucial in navigating the complex logistics and administrative tasks required for a hitch-free Hajj.
In his initial steps, Prof. Usman held a maiden executive staff meeting, signaling his commitment to collaborative leadership and open communication. His Special Assistant (Technical), Dr. Saleh Usman Muhammad, was present at the meeting, underscoring the team’s readiness to tackle the challenges ahead.
As the countdown to the next Hajj begins, Prof. Usman’s expertise and vision will be invaluable in addressing the commission’s past shortcomings.
