Speaking after presenting the awards to the honouraties and their representatives, Governor Adeleke described the recognition as a call to do more.

“As can be seen from the nominations, this is not a political event. This is a non-partisan gesture to recognize excellence and acknowledge huge contributions of our indigenes for the development of our state and nation. I therefore stand before you as a Governor for all Osun people who recognize sterling qualities in our awardees without political or sectional bias.

“I have directed that the State Award should become a statutory event with standing structures for the nomination process. From next year, we will appoint a panel of judges and trustees of the State Award. The trustees will develop the award and nomination procedures. The state will enforce best practices for implementation.

“The point is that every commendation is a call for further delivery. Your recognition is a challenge not to relent in service of our people. You must continue to mentor the upcoming generations. You must increase the tempo of your community service. You are the torchbearers of excellence and development.

“Our administration seeks the deepening of partnership with our elites and professionals. We invite you to continue your engagement. We are open to ideas and we will continue to be responsive to counseling and ideas”, he added.
