The Nigerian Army announced on Tuesday that its troops have successfully executed a series of decisive operations against terrorists, resulting in the neutralization of several high-profile fighters and the recovery of significant weaponry, including rocket bombs and a large cache of ammunition.

According to a statement from Army headquarters, these operations have further restricted the terrorists’ operational capabilities across the nation.

On September 29, 2024, a high-intensity raid targeted Boko Haram/ISWAP strongholds in Ajiri and Mastari villages within Bama Local Government Area, Borno State. Utilizing superior firepower, troops eliminated four notorious fighters and conducted a thorough search of the area, uncovering two Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bombs, two AK-47 magazines, 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 25 rounds of 7.62x54mm Light Machine Gun ammunition, and a Light Machine Gun barrel.

In a separate encounter at Banki Junction in Bama Local Government, troops neutralized another terrorist.

In Plateau State, acting on precise intelligence, troops conducted a raid that led to the capture of two notorious kidnappers, Isah Abdullahi (24) and Mujahid Musa (23), in the mountainous region of Panyam. Initial investigations revealed their involvement in multiple violent attacks on villages in Mangu Local Government Area. Recovered items from this operation included two motorcycles, three mobile phones, and various other materials. Additionally, troops apprehended a known arms dealer, Kabiru Zaki, in Bukuru town, Jos South Local Government Area, along with another suspect linked to a recent murder in Brazongo village, Bassa Local Government Area.

In South Eastern Nigeria, troops engaged IPOB/ESN terrorists in a fierce firefight at Lilu, Ihiala Local Government Area, after the militants attempted to ambush them using Improvised Explosive Devices. Overwhelmed by superior firepower, the terrorists retreated into nearby forests, leaving behind a Closed Circuit Camera and components for Improvised Explosive Devices.

Moreover, troops swiftly responded to a distress call regarding the abduction of civilians along the Gurbi-Jibia road in Katsina State. Upon the arrival of the troops, the terrorists fled, abandoning four injured victims who were promptly rescued and evacuated for medical care.

The Nigerian Army remains steadfast in its commitment to depleting terrorist elements and their collaborators. The Chief of Army Staff has issued a strong directive for troops to maintain relentless pressure on all fronts until the nation’s adversaries are completely defeated and peace is restored.
