Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly passed a vote of confidence in Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on Monday, expressing their satisfaction with his leadership of the House.

This vote of confidence coincided with the Speaker’s 52nd birthday, during which the lawmakers praisobasaed him for enhancing the country’s democracy through legislation that positively impacts the citizens.

“I rise this afternoon to move a motion that a vote of confidence be passed on the Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa to continue the excellent work he has been doing, especially in this 10th Assembly.

“It is important to note that every decision the Speaker has made in the House has been with the full consent of his fellow lawmakers. He consults with the members and considers their opinions,” stated Majority Leader Noheem Adams during the plenary session presided over by Deputy Speaker Mojisola Lasbat Meranda.

Adams explained that his motion, which was seconded by Sa’ad Olumoh, representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun I, was based on extensive consultations.

Deputy Majority Leader Adedamola Kasunmu, in supporting the motion, added, “We have absolute confidence in his leadership, and there is no better way to express this than by passing a vote of confidence in the Speaker.”

As part of the birthday celebrations, the lawmakers commended the Speaker for his influential leadership.

“I celebrate my Speaker and recognize his impactful leadership. On behalf of my constituents in Eti-Osa, I wish him a happy birthday,” said Gbolahan Yishawu, representing Eti-Osa 2.
