In A swift response to circulating online rumours, Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has publicly dismissed reports suggesting he plans to defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The speculation also claimed that he would be leading five other governors in this supposed move.

In a statement released on Sunday through his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, Zulum described the reports as “entirely false and existing only in the imagination of its sponsors.” He labeled the claims as “fictitious and mischievous social media reports circulating in certain quarters” and accused those behind it of being “detractors who have made no meaningful contribution to the progress of Borno State or Nigeria.”

The Governor emphasized his unwavering loyalty to the APC, stating, “My loyalty to the APC remains firm and my dedication is solely to the welfare and progress of Borno State.” He further urged the public to disregard the rumors, asserting, “We have no time for cheap politics; our hands are full with the noble task of rebuilding and developing our dear state.”

Zulum also called on media outlets and the public to verify information from credible, official sources. “I urge the good people of Borno and the general public to disregard these fabricated stories. We remain resolute in our commitment to serving Borno State under the banner of our great party, the APC,” he concluded.

The Governor’s statement underscores his clear stance against political misinformation and reaffirms his dedication to the development of Borno State within the APC platform.
