A prominent social media influencer, Reno Omokri, has condemned the disturbing trend of cyberbullying by some elements sympathetic to detained and embattled activist, Dele Farotimi facing defamation charges against Age Babalol, SAN.
Omokri expressed his disappointment and solidarity with Aare Afe Babalola, a respected Nigerian lawyer and founder of Afe Babalola University, who has been subjected to online harassment and defamation.
“I am so disappointed by how people who should speak up for Aare Afe Babalola left him to be publicly denigrated, insulted and desecrated by Obidients because they are afraid of being bullied,” Omokri stated.

Omokri emphasized that Babalola has done nothing wrong and deserves respect for his contributions to Nigerian society. “Chief Babalola has done no wrong. I am proud that such a man is a Nigerian.
Nobody should be allowed to sully his hard earned reputation without evidence and then unleash their media power to cower him.”
He also warned that those who remain silent in the face of injustice will eventually face the same treatment.
“If you know that Chief Babalola ought not to be disrespected as has been done to him and refuse to speak up for him for fear of the horde of rudapests, then you are certainly not an Omoluabi.”
Omokri concluded by saying, “And don’t worry. Your turn is coming. These people do not support what is right. They support what is trending. And the day that it becomes trendy to destroy your own hard-earned reputation without evidence, they will jump on the bandwagon and savage your legacy.”
