    Gov Otu hosts VP’s wife Hajiya Nana Shettima, as Renewed Hope initiative expands reach

    At the Archibong Lodge, the Temporary Office of the Governor, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, Wife of the Vice President of Nigeria, received a warm welcome as she arrived in Cross River State.

    Representing the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, she came in her capacity as the Vice Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative.

    Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, while delivering his speech, welcomed the esteemed guest and praised the efforts of the Renewed Hope Initiative in empowering women and supporting communities across Nigeria.

    “Today is a great day for us as a state. This is an August visitor in December, and one we have eagerly anticipated. On behalf of Cross River State, we welcome you to our land,” the governor remarked.

    He highlighted the importance of empowering women to build a stronger society, applauding the initiative for its exceptional representation and impact.

    “To build a vibrant society, we need to strengthen our women. Men, it’s time to support them wholeheartedly,” he added. He further stressed the state government’s commitment to easing the economic transition period for its citizens.

    Hajiya Shettima, in her address, expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality extended by the people of Cross River State. She lauded the state’s contributions to the Renewed Hope Initiative, singling out Rev. Mrs. Eyowan Bassey Otu, the state coordinator and wife of the governor, for her exemplary leadership.

    “Calabar truly is the headquarters of hospitality,” she noted, adding that the initiative is committed to further supporting the state through various programs aimed at alleviating hardship.

    “By God’s grace, this is just the beginning, and more impactful projects are in the pipeline,” she affirmed.
    Her visit would witnessed the distribution of food items to support vulnerable groups in the state, while emphasizing the initiative’s dedication to grassroots development.

Dignitaries in attendance included Fathima Tajudeen Abass, Wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives; Racheal Owan Enoh, Wife of the Honourable Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investment; and Mrs. Nelly Elbert Ayambem, Wife of the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, among others.

    As the Renewed Hope Initiative continues its outreach, Cross River State stands as a beacon of collaboration and commitment to the progress of its people.
