In a significant development push, President Bola Tinubu’s administration has invested over N300 billion in the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) within the last 17 months, according to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Wike disclosed this during the commissioning of the 9-kilometre Paikon Kore – Ibwa road in Gwagwalada Area Council, which cost N8.5 billion. He highlighted that the President has committed N22 billion to the Aguma Palace – Market Road, set to be commissioned in May.
The minister also mentioned the renovation of several schools, including the School for the Gifted Gwagwalada, Government Secondary School Gwagwalada, and others, with a total value of N16.5 billion. Additionally, three police divisions are being built in Gwagwalada.

Wike emphasized that the President’s investment in Gwagwalada alone exceeds N50 billion, and when combined with the other Area Councils, the total investment surpasses N300 billion.

The Coordinator of the FCT Satellite Towns Development Department, Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, noted that the Paikon Kore – Ibwa road project has enhanced business opportunities and transportation of goods and services.
Community Laison Officer Ibrahim Maikeri added that over 70 communities along the road stretch have benefited from the project, which has improved the livelihoods of farmers and traders
