The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has commissioned the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s (NCAA) Flight Data Centre (FDC).
This milestone marks a major step forward in improving aviation safety in Nigeria.
According to Keyamo, the FDC is a vital component of the NCAA’s efforts to enhance safety in the aviation sector, aligning with one of his five-point agenda.
“By concentrating on improving safety, we will continue to move up in the rating of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO),” he emphasized.

The FDC will play a crucial role in tracking flight patterns, human efforts, and mechanical data to improve the sector, offer advice, and regulate better. This aligns with the NCAA’s core mandate.
The Acting Director-General, Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, explained that the FDC is mandated by Annex 19 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation. This facility will help reduce the likelihood of costly accidents and incidents, support risk-based oversight, and align NCAA with global best practices.
The NCAA collaborated with APS Aerospace Corporation, which boasts over 100 years of combined experience in Flight Data and Cockpit/ATC Audio Analysis. The FDC will provide enhanced safety oversight, proactive detection of potential safety risks, and data-driven decision-making to prevent serious incidents and accidents.
