ABUJA – As Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence anniversary, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called on the Federal Government to tackle the country’s pressing challenges, including economic hardship, insecurity, and corruption.

In a statement commemorating the anniversary, IPAC National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, emphasized that Nigeria’s resilience, resourcefulness, and industriousness have helped the country navigate numerous challenges, but stressed the need for urgent action to address the nation’s woes.

Dantalle noted that the sour national mood due to economic hardship and insecurity necessitates immediate attention, urging governments at all levels to improve the people’s standards of living and make Nigeria safe again.

To achieve sustainable development, IPAC advocated for decisive action against corruption, ensuring national resources are channeled to meet the people’s needs, creating wealth and employment, and curbing crimes and insecurity.

The council stated, “It is indeed, a milestone in the country’s democratic governance and calls for sober reflection and rededication as we strive to build a better society.

“The need for peace, unity, tolerance, and patriotism cannot be overemphasized. Nigerians are a resilient, resourceful, and industrious people and have remained resolute and committed to fostering sustainable democracy in the country.

“Nation building is a collective responsibility. It is obvious that the national mood is sour due to economic hardship and insecurity in the country.

“The 64th Independence anniversary provides yet another opportunity for the government to set the nation on the path of economic prosperity and political stability.

“Let us join hands to make it great again and fulfill the vision of our heroes’ past of a united, progressive, prosperous and just democratic nation.”
