    Meta Connect 2024: Zuckerberg unveils innovations in AI, AR glasses, others

    Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has unveiled a series of innovations at Meta Connect 2024, highlighting major advancements in artificial intelligence, AI, wearables, and mixed reality, MR.
    During the event, Zuckerberg revealed key advancements in Meta’s product line.

    He introduced Orion, a state-of-the-art pair of AR glasses that merge advanced technology with the look and feel of traditional eyewear.
    Zuckerberg noted that Orion features a 70-degree field of view, offering users immersive AR experiences, including holograms, multi-tasking windows, and large-scale entertainment.
    He added that the glasses feature a seamless input system combining voice, eye-tracking, hand gestures, and an EMG wristband.
    Orion is currently being tested by Meta employees and select external audiences to refine the product for its upcoming consumer launch.

    Zuckerberg also introduced the Meta Quest 3S, an affordable mixed reality headset.
    The Quest 3S will be ideal for families and new users, offering a cost-effective entry point into the world of mixed reality.
    The headset will be bundled with the upcoming Batman: Arkham Shadow game and offered in various storage options.

    Additionally, Zuckerberg detailed the progress of Meta AI, which has been integrated into platforms like Messenger, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. Users can now interact with the AI through voice, choosing from iconic personalities such as Dame Judi Dench and John Cena. In select regions, the AI will be able to interpret images and offer creative editing options.
    Zuckerberg emphasized that experimental features are being introduced on Instagram and Facebook, allowing users to generate and personalize content more easily.

    Regarding AI development, Zuckerberg announced the release of the Llama 3.2 open-source models, which can understand both images and text.
    He said: “These models will simplify AI deployment across multiple platforms, including AWS and Microsoft Azure, and are expected to play a significant role in enterprise applications.”

    Finally, Zuckerberg highlighted updates to the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, which will feature AI capabilities such as QR code scanning, real-time video assistance, and live language translation. The glasses will also integrate with services like Spotify and Audible to enhance the user experience.
