During the announcement, Mr. Adebowale Falana, Chairman of the Oyo State Youth Development Agency, spoke on behalf of the governor, stressing the urgency of this initiative. He stated, “The world is changing practically every day; it is essential for our government to equip our youth with the skills needed to navigate the ever-evolving digital landscape.”

Falana highlighted the critical role of technology in today’s society, remarking, “We live in an era where technology shapes the pace of progress. It’s crucial for our youth to possess the skills required to thrive in this rapidly shifting environment.” He added that those without digital skills risk becoming unemployable, irrespective of their educational qualifications.

The program targets youths aged 18 to 35 residing in Oyo State, initially focusing on training 3,000 participants, including graduates, semi-graduates, and holders of O’level certificates.

“Our aim is to enhance their competitiveness in the job market and promote self-sufficiency,” Falana noted.

“This program transcends mere skill acquisition; it is about unlocking potential. Participants will learn to leverage technology for problem-solving, fostering creativity and critical thinking.”

“Whether aiming to become web developers, digital marketers, or entrepreneurs, this initiative presents limitless opportunities.”

Oyo State is renowned for its talent and innovation, and this initiative aligns with Governor Makinde’s vision for empowering the youth.

Falana explained that the curriculum would be developed in collaboration with industry experts to ensure it meets current market demands.

He encouraged all young people in the state to seize this opportunity and embrace new challenges, stating, “It is through confronting these challenges that you will grow and excel.”

Falana also expressed appreciation for the partners and stakeholders committed to youth development, emphasizing the collaborative effort needed to create a robust framework for enhancing digital literacy and promoting innovation.

He called for collective action to build a future where youths are not just participants in the digital economy but leaders and innovators.

“Together, we can create an Oyo State where every young person has the opportunity to succeed,” he concluded.
