    Ekiti State CJ, Adeyeye dies at 64

    Ado-Ekiti—The Chief Justice of Ekiti State, Oyewole Adeyeye is dead. He died at the age of 64.

    The State Chief Registrar, Adegoke Olanike, in a statement signed by the Judiciary’s Public Relations Officer, Olayiwola Michael, said Adeyeye died after a brief illness.

    According to the statement, late Adeyeye was a respected jurist, who dedicated his life to upholding the principle of fairness equity and justice.

    The statement reads, “It is with profound sadness that the Chief Registrar of Ekiti State Judiciary Adegoke Olanike Esq announces the passing of Ekiti State Chief Judge, Hon Justice John Oyewole Adeyeye after a brief illness.

    “The late Chief Judge was a respected jurist who dedicated his life to upholding the principle of fairness, equity and justice.

    “His contribution to the development of the judiciary and Ekiti State at large are immeasurable and his legacy will be deeply missed.

    “Further details will be announced in due course”.

    Adeyeye was sworn in as a CJ on October 11 2021 by former Governor Kayode Fayemi.

    He was born 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi in Ekiti East Local Government of Ekiti State and was called to bar in 1986

    The late CJ started his career as a State counsel in the Civil service of the old Ondo State before joining the Ekiti State Judiciary Service Commission shortly after the creation of the State in 1996.

    He got elevated to the position of a judge in the Ekiti State high court in 2002 and has served at different time in the election petition tribunals.
