The Federal Government has been commended by De Renaissance Patriots for releasing monthly allocations directly to constitutionally recognized local government authorities.

This move, according to the group, will enable the elected members of the LGAs to be held accountable for their actions and failures.
“We can now hold the elected members of the LGAs accountable for their actions and failures. Some of us have been advocating for this initiative. We welcome this positive step by the Federal Government,” said the group.

De Renaissance Patriots expressed hope that state counterpart funding to local government authorities would be made available, leading to improved service delivery at the grassroots level. “We expect to see gradual shift to progress and better service delivery to the people at the grassroots. Thanks to FG for a good step forward.”
The group was particularly excited about the development, as it aligns with the Constitution provisions. “We are particularly excited about this as it happens that these allocations, with regards to LGAs in Lagos State, were made directly to the 20 LG authorities.”
De Renaissance Patriots vowed to monitor the administration of the local authorities to prevent any backdoor arrangements. “We will continue to be interested in the day-to-day administration of these local authorities in our state to ensure that no scripted backdoor arrangements are done anywhere to arm-twist LGA chairmen.”
The group described the development as a welcome news, aligning with their advocacy for direct allocation of funds to local authorities. “At any rate, this is interesting news of the month and it is simply what we have advocated for, to ensure that what should get to local authorities in our state gets to them to enable them give governance at their grassroots level of government.”
The statement was signed by Bolaji Are, President, and Yomi Tokosi, Secretary General of De Renaissance Patriots.
