Gov Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has directed the immediate arrest of those involved in the reprisal attack launched against the Fulani after the Mera attack by the Lakurawa terrorist group.
The Governor during his condolence visit to Mera in Augie Local Government Area of the State, on arrival in the country from his overseas trip on Monday condemned the reprisal attack in which six Fulani were killed in the area.
The attack was launched against the Fulani that were suspected to be involved in the Mera attack in which 17 people were killed by the Lakurawa terrorists group.
Speaking during his visit to the troubled areas, Governor Idris said “I have directed the immediate arrest of those responsible for the unjust killing of innocent fulani in the name of revenge”.

He added that it was wrong for individuals to take law into their hands and his administration would not condone the acts of jungle justice. Instead, he said any suspicions should be reported to the appropriate security authorities for immediate action.
He warned that his administration has zero tolerance for banditry activities and would continue to support the security agencies to sustain the offensive against it and as well deal decisively with any persons serving as informants to bandits in the state.
To achieve this, he directed immediate procurement of additional vehicles for security personnel to enhance their operations in the state.
