The Ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all the 18 chairmanship positions in the local government elections in Cross River State, held on Saturday, November 2nd.
The Chairman of the Cross River State Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), Dr Ekong Boco, who doubled as the returning officer in the elections, declared the results in Calabar,at the Commision’s headquarters at Bishop Moynah, Sunday.

The 18 local government areas which the APC won were Abi, Odukpani, Bakassi, Akpabuyo, Ogoja, Akamkpa, Bekwarra, Etung, Biase, Boki, Calabar Municipality, Obubra, Yakurr, Yala, Obanliku, Obudu, Ikom and Calabar South.
The winners were issued Certificates of Return few hours after the declaration of results by the Returning Officer, Dr Boco.
Governor Bassey Otu, who congratulated the winners, described the elections as peaceful and expressed hope that the newly elected Chairmen would align with his vision for the State.
“We have a well-defined vision for the state, and we believe the new leadership at the local government level would understand that they must align with the state government’s agenda and exhibit unwavering dedication to realizing good governance,” he stated.
Nine opposition parties, including PDP, Labour Party, participated in the elections but failed to field candidates across all 196 local council wards, in the 18 local government areas.
