LAUTECH student’s tragic death sparks campus unrest

Published on

ADevastating hit-and-run incident has claimed the life of a 200-level student of Agricultural Economics at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Iseyin campus.

The student’s identity has not been disclosed, but what’s certain is that a life was cut short in a senseless accident.

Eyewitnesses recount the heartbreaking scene: the student was walking along a major road in Iseyin town when a speeding vehicle struck them and fled the scene, leaving behind a community in shock.

The news sparked widespread outrage, with students taking to the streets to demand justice for their fallen colleague. “We want justice!” they chanted, calling on authorities to address the issue of reckless driving in the area.

In response, LAUTECH management has suspended academic activities at the Iseyin campus for two weeks, citing the emotional toll of the incident on students and staff. “This heartbreaking incident has cast a shadow over our university community,” Registrar Mrs. Olayinka Balogun said in a statement.

Security agencies are now racing to track down the hit-and-run driver responsible for the fatal accident. Our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends, and the LAUTECH community during this difficult time.
