THE Court of Appeal has inaugurated the Edo State Election Petitions Tribunal to entertain petitions that would arise from Saturday’s governorship election.
A press release by the Secretary of Edo Petition Tribunal, Mu’azu Bagudu Esq addressed to the Edo State Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) sighted on Friday by Vanguard said “In line with the provisions of section 285 (1) and (2) of the 1999Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as Amended) and Paragraph 133(3b)of the Electoral Act 2022, the President of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Monica Bolna’an Dongban-Mensem, has constituted the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal for Edo State.
“The mandate of the Tribunal is to hear and determine Petition(s) that may arise from the Edo State Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday21 September,2024.

“The Secretariat/Registry of the Tribunal is open to the public and is located at the High Court of Justice complex, Sapele Road, Benin City, Edo State.
“Consequently, those wishing to file an Election Petition or for further inquiry should contact the Secretary of the Tribunal in the above mentioned address.
“May you kindly cause this to form part of the news publication in your noble and reputable media organization please.

When Vanguard visited the High Court premises, there was a banner announcing that the tribunal was on and the location it would hold.
