The Ogun State Government has taken decisive action against five companies for egregious environmental infractions and illegal operations.
Three industries, namely Nixim Paper Limited, Long Xiang Aluminum, and New Shidai Manufacturing Limited, were shut down for flagrantly releasing untreated wastewater into the environment, posing a significant threat to public health and safety.
Despite receiving a “Stop Work Order” from the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), these companies continued to disregard environmental regulations, prompting the state government to take drastic measures.
Farook Akintunde, Chairman of the Ogun State Taskforce on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, led the enforcement team and stated that the companies’ actions demonstrated a blatant disregard for environmental laws and the well-being of surrounding communities.
Oluwadare Kehinde, Special Adviser to the Governor on OGEPA, emphasized that the companies must comply with the state’s wastewater regulations, which are essential for preventing water pollution and maintaining water quality standards.
He stressed that OGEPA will not compromise on this and will continue to demand the best environmental standards from industries operating in the state.

Furthermore, two unregistered companies were sealed for operating illegally in the Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. These companies, which have not fulfilled the necessary registration requirements, pose a risk to the environment and public health. They must register with the state government and fulfill other operational obligations before they can resume operations.
The Ogun State Government’s actions demonstrate its commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring that industries operate responsibly.
By taking decisive action against companies that disregard environmental regulations, the government is sending a strong message that environmental sustainability is a top priority.
