    Gov. Yusuf reinstates Emir of Gaya, appoint two others as 2nd class Emirs

    Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has reinstated the Emir of Gaya, Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir and appointed two others as Emirs of Karaye and Rano Emirates, the newly created three second class Emirates in the state.

    The Governor announced the appointment of the second class emirs in a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature and made available to newsmen in the state in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

    Governor Yusuf said the appointment is with immediate effect, adding that, the new emirates are to serve as second class status with Kano as first class emirate.

    According to the statement, “The newly appointed Emirs are: Alhaji Muhammad Mahraz Karaye, as Emir of Karaye (who until his appointment was the District Head of Rogo), Alhaji Muhammad Isa Umar, as Emir of Rano (who until his appointment, was the District Head of Bunkure) and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya, as Emir of Gaya (who was the emir of the defunct Gaya emirate).

    “The appointments are with immediate effect.

    “While congratulating the newly appointed Emirs, Governor Abba K. Yusuf enjoined them to be custodians of culture, peace and unity of the people in their respective emirates,” the statement however reads.

    Recall that Governor Yusuf had on Tuesday signed into law three second class emirates in the state with Rano Emirate covering only Rano, Kibiya and Bunkure Local Government areas and Gaya Emirate covering only Gaya, Ajingi and Albasu Local Government areas while Karaye Emirate covers only Karaye and Rogo Local Government areas.
