    AFRIMA 2026: Nigeria dominates as Rema, Burna Boy, Shallipopi win

    Rema has emerged as the big winner at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) 2026, taking home three awards. The 24-year-old ‘Calm Down’ crooner won Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, Best Artiste of the Year, and Best African Artiste, Duo or Group in African RnB/Soul for ‘Calm Down’.

    Rema beat top Nigerian artists, including Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, and Asake to win the top awards. “Their support means everything to me,” Rema said, thanking fans and organizers.

    Other winners include:
    – Burna Boy: Album of the Year
    – Yemi Alade: Best Soundtrack in Movie, Series, or Documentary for ‘You Are’ from “Iyanu: The Animated Series”
    – Shallipoppi: Best Song of the Year and Best Collaboration for ‘Laho’
    – Jux (Tanzania): Best Male Artiste Eastern Africa
    – Cindy Le Coeur (DRC): Best Female Artiste Central Africa

    AFRIMA 2026, held at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, showcased African musical talents and promoted cultural heritage. Lagos hosted the awards for the third time, after Ghana and Senegal.
