‎A youth leader in the community, Mr. Ogu Iliya regretted that the protest became necessary to draw the attention of the authorities to their plight and demand urgent intervention.

‎He explained that gunmen, numbering about fifty, stormed the community between midnight and the early hours of Friday, shooting sporadically and abducting an elderly resident.

‎According to him, the youths mobilized in self-defence but two of them were shot dead during the encounter.

‎Mr. Iliya lamented that the latest attack was the twelfth in recent times, adding that residents have been living in fear and helplessness.
