InA momentous occasion for Isale Eko and Lagos State, four distinguished sons have been officially approved and gazetted as Paramount Traditional White Cap Chiefs of Lagos. The appointments, seen as a blend of tradition and progress, bring a new dynamic era to the Lagos traditional institution.
The newly gazetted Chiefs include Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, Engr. Ajibade Ismail Nosiru Ayeni, Chief Adebola Olalekan Dosunmu, and Chief Lookman Bolaji Oluwa. According to insiders, their ascension reflects the wisdom of His Royal Majesty, Oba Riliwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, in safeguarding and strengthening the cultural heritage of the land.
Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, the new Ogboni Iduntafa of Lagos, expressed gratitude for the appointment. “This honor is not just a recognition of my service but a call to duty,” he said. Engr. Chief Adebola Olalekan Dosunmu, the Olorogun Adodo of Lagos, highlighted his commitment to preserving Lagos’ cultural identity. “As the Supreme Head of the Adamu Orisha Play, I’ve always worked to protect the values of Isale Eko,” he said. Chief Dosunmu’s reputation as a bridge-builder and community leader will undoubtedly enhance his role.
Chief Lookman Bolaji Oluwa, the Onisemo of Lagos, expressed his dedication to the cultural sustainability of Lagos. “My exposure abroad broadened my perspective, but my loyalty remains with my heritage,” he said. With his background as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the United States, Chief Oluwa brings a unique perspective to the traditional institution.
