    Awujale: Ogun govt constitutes 11-man administrative body to oversee affairs of Ijebu-Ode

    The Ogun State government on Tuesday announce the constitution of administrative body to superintend over the management of various administrative and traditional responsibilities of Ijebu-Ode.

    This followed the demise of the former Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, late Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who joined his ancestors on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the age of 91 years.

    A statement by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, stated that the constitution of the administrative body was in line with the existing historical and traditional governance structure of Ijebu-Ode.

    “In line with the existing historical and traditional governance structure of ljebu Ode, the Ogun State government hereby formally announces the constitution of an
    administrative body to superintend over the management of various administrative and traditional responsibilities during the period of transition, until a new Awujale is
    installed.

    The 11-man administrative body is headed by the Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland, Chief Folorunso Sunny Kuku, while Chief Oluwaranti Lekan Osifeso, will serve as Secretary.

    Other members of the body included Chief Stephen Bakare Oluwalogbon, Chief Bisola Oluneye Okuboyejo, Chief Funmilola Okunowo, Prof. Jide Ajayi, Chief Tunde Odulaja, Chief Abimbola Okenla, Chief Agboola Alausa, Chief (Mrs.) Adebisi Oshibogun, and Chief Adebisi Adaran

    The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, reiterated the commitment of his government to ensure stability, continuity, and respect for the cherished traditions of ljebu Ode during this transition period.

    “The State government therefore calls on all sons and daughters of ljebuland, both at home and in the diaspora, to extend their unflinching support to the constituted administrative body, as this is a collective responsibility, and cooperation of all stakeholders is crucial in safeguarding the peace, harmony, and unity that Ijebuland is known for.

    “The people are further urged to remain law-abiding, peaceful and support the ongoing process, as government remains resolute in its commitment to transparency,
    inclusiveness and the preservation of our cultural heritage.
