The National Security Adviser, has said the country made significant strides in the fight against corruption, security, and disaster management in 2024.
According to the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered over N248 billion, $105 million, and 753 duplexes through its asset recovery efforts.
“We are committed to combating corruption and financial crimes in Nigeria,” said Zakari Mijinyawa, Director of Legal at ONSA. “The EFCC’s achievements in 2024 are a testament to our unwavering dedication to this cause.”

In addition to the EFCC’s successes, the Nigerian military also achieved notable gains in the fight against terrorism and oil theft. A joint military operation coordinated by the National Security Adviser (NSA) resulted in the rescue of 36 abducted farmers in Kebbi State on December 8.
The military also prevented oil theft valued at over N57 billion and recovered 8,216 weapons and 211,459 rounds of ammunition. “These efforts demonstrate our commitment to protecting Nigeria’s economy and natural resources,” said Mijinyawa.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) also made significant progress in drug supply and demand reduction. The agency arrested 14,480 individuals, including 15 drug barons, and secured 2,867 convictions.
“We are committed to combating the drug abuse crisis in Nigeria,” said a spokesperson for the NDLEA. “Our efforts in 2024 demonstrate our dedication to this cause.”
In disaster management, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) made significant strides in providing humanitarian interventions across Nigeria.
The agency distributed 42,000 metric tons of food to vulnerable populations and launched a Resettlement Scheme for Conflict-Affected Persons in seven pilot states.
“We are committed to providing effective disaster management and humanitarian interventions in Nigeria,” said a spokesperson for NEMA. “Our efforts in 2024 demonstrate our dedication to this cause.”
Overall, Nigeria’s gains in anti-corruption, security, and disaster management in 2024 demonstrate the country’s commitment to protecting its economy, natural resources, and citizens.
