The Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Edoba Omoregie, has met with officials of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to discuss strategies for increasing student enrolment in the scheme.

This move aligns with Omoregie’s student-centered mission, which prioritizes providing opportunities for students to access funding for their education.

Omoregie expressed concern over the current low enrolment figures from the university, appealing for more opportunities for beneficiaries.

He recalled his inauguration promise to encourage students to participate in the scheme, which he had advocated for alongside other scholars before its establishment.

The Executive Director of NELFUND, Mr. Mustapha Iyal, attributed the low enrolment to inadequate sensitization and doubts about the fund’s authenticity. However, he assured that the scheme is willing to accommodate more students from the University, provided they meet the necessary guidelines.

Omoregie plans to visit other organizations as part of his networking agenda for the University, demonstrating his commitment to exploring opportunities that benefit UNIBEN students.
