A devastating motor accident occurred along the Kano-Zaria highway in Kura Local Government area of Kano State, resulting in the loss of nine lives.
The accident involved a truck that lost control after a tricycle was wrongly overtaken, according to the Kano Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ahmed Mohammed.
“The crash involved a truck and a tricycle, with a total of twelve (12) people involved. Unfortunately, nine (9) people lost their lives in the accident, while three (3) others sustained injuries,” Mohammed said in a statement.
The victims were rushed to Kura General Hospital for immediate medical attention. Preliminary investigations revealed that wrongful overtaking led to the loss of control of the vehicle.

Mohammed expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and the injured, emphasizing the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations. He urged drivers to maintain safe speeds when approaching major towns along the highways and advised road users to exercise caution and refrain from unnecessary loitering and hawking along the highways.
“The FRSC remains committed to ensuring safer roads for all and will continue to engage in public enlightenment and enforcement activities to curb the rising menace of road traffic crashes,” the statement concluded.
