This is to extend a heartfelt condolences to the Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) and the family of the late Sheikh Saidu Hassan Jingir, a revered Islamic scholar whose teachings profoundly shaped religious discourse in Nigeria.

Sheikh Jingir, known for his unwavering commitment to the propagation of Islam and his leadership within JIBWIS, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of scholarship, guidance, and dedication to the faith. His death has been met with deep sorrow across Nigeria’s Muslim community, particularly among his students, followers, and clerics who admired his vast knowledge and moral leadership.

Throughout his life, Sheikh Jingir was a beacon of Islamic scholarship, advocating for the principles of Tawheed (monotheism) and the Sunnah (traditions of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him). As a leader in JIBWIS, he played a pivotal role in promoting religious education, social justice, and moral rectitude. His sermons and lectures reached millions, emphasizing unity, piety, and the rejection of extremism.

Beyond his religious teachings, he was a strong voice in national affairs, offering counsel on issues of governance, morality, and the role of Islam in fostering peace and development. His passing marks the end of an era for Nigerian Islam, particularly within the Izala movement, which he helped shape into a formidable force for religious enlightenment.

    Tribute:

In his condolence message, during this Holy Month of Ramadhan Tafsir (translation of the Holy Qur’an), the NAHCON Chairman Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, expressed deep submission to the Will of Allah over the scholar’s demise, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to the development of Islam in Nigeria.

“Sheikh Saidu Hassan Jingir was not just a scholar but a pillar of Islamic knowledge whose teachings and guidance impacted generations. His wisdom, humility, and devotion to Allah’s cause will be greatly missed. On behalf of NAHCON and the entire Hajj community, I extend our deepest sympathies to his family, JIBWIS, and all those mourning this irreplaceable loss,” Abdullahi stated.

Sheikh Abdullahi Saleh Usman further prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the late scholar, asking the Almighty Allah to grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus-Al a’ala and to give his family and followers the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.

In this moment of national grief, the Nigerian Muslim community finds solace in the words of the Qur’an:

“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:156)

May Allah grant Sheikh Saidu Hassan Jingir eternal peace and reward him for his contributions to Islam.

Muhammad Ahmad Musa is Head, Public Affairs -NAHCON.
