Abeokuta – Authorities in Ogun State are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Tolulope Olusanya, a 45-year-old tenant, whose decomposing body was found late Monday night in her apartment on Madojutimi Abiola Way.
Concern arose when Adebesin Adebayo, the landlord, reported Olusanya missing after she had not been seen for several days. Alarmed by the absence of his tenant, Adebayo went to check on her and was met with a strong, foul odor emanating from her unit.
According to police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, Adebayo contacted the Kemta Divisional Police Station around 8:15 PM on Monday to express his worries. “Upon entering the premises, he noticed a disturbing smell coming from inside the apartment,” Odutola explained. “The door was locked from the inside, which prompted him to raise the alarm.”
When police arrived at the scene, they found the apartment still secured and the unpleasant odor permeating through the windows. Officers were forced to break into the unit, where they discovered Olusanya’s lifeless body on the bed, showing signs of having been deceased for an extended period.

Odutola noted that attempts to transport the body to a nearby hospital were complicated by a lack of necessary medical equipment to manage potential health risks. Efforts to reach out to Olusanya’s family were also met with challenges, as no immediate relatives could be located.
The area has since been cordoned off as police detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death, with initial reports suggesting the possibility of suicide. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to uncover the details leading up to this tragic incident.
