Traffic Robbery: Police nab two suspects in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected traffic robbers, identified as Idowu Lukuman and Sadiq Ahmed, in the Alagbado area of the state.

The arrest was made after a distress call was received by the police, reporting a theft incident at Kola Bus Stop.

According to the police, the suspects had posed as a tricycle rider and passenger to deceive and rob unsuspecting commuters. They allegedly stole an Itel phone worth ₦70,000 from a victim, who immediately alerted the authorities.

The Lagos Police patrol unit responded swiftly to the distress call at 5:29 pm on September 6th, 2024, and intercepted the duo, who were riding a tricycle with the registration number KJA 637 QM.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest and stated that the stolen phone, along with other phones, including a Tecno Camon, a Nokia, and a Vivo phone, were recovered from the suspects.

SP Hundeyin further disclosed that the two suspects would be transferred to the appropriate unit for further investigation. He reiterated the command’s commitment to reducing crime rates in the state and urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities.

This successful operation highlights the importance of community-police collaboration and showcases the effectiveness of police patrols in Lagos.
