President Bola Tinubu has announced ambitious plans to transform Nigeria into a leading agricultural export nation by 2025.

Speaking at the “Road to South-South National Convergence for Renewed Hope Agenda” in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized the vast potential of the South-South region in driving economic growth and development.

The President, represented by Minister of Regional Development Abubakar Momoh, highlighted the region’s rich natural resources, beyond oil and gas, and its extraordinary human capacity and talents.

He noted that proper harnessing of these resources could embody the transformative potential of Nigeria.

“Earn from the Soil” Initiative
To achieve this vision, Tinubu launched the “Earn from the Soil” project, a food security initiative aimed at transforming subsistence farming into robust, export-driven economic opportunities.

This project is expected to revolutionize Nigeria’s agricultural landscape and ensure national food security.

Tinubu emphasized that his administration will provide necessary support to implement the project, empowering citizens to become agents of economic prosperity. He called on local and foreign investors to invest in the region, stating that the South-South is open for business.

Unlocking the South-South’s Potential
Hon. Gift Johnbull, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, South-South, echoed Tinubu’s sentiments, highlighting the region’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s economy.

She emphasized the need for strategic partnerships to unlock the region’s vast resources and foster national growth.

Johnbull urged investors, policymakers, and stakeholders to recognize the South-South as a hub of untapped potential, citing initiatives like the Pitching Den as a platform to attract bold entrepreneurs and visionary investors.

Empowering Youth and Women
The event also featured the unveiling of the Impact Report, showcasing milestones achieved under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Johnbull encouraged youth and women to take an active role in transforming their communities, describing them as “key change-makers” in the region’s development journey.

With this renewed focus on agriculture and regional development, Nigeria is poised to become a leading player in the global agricultural export market.

As Tinubu noted, “My promise to Nigerians was to restore and renew their hope and confidence in their ability to excel. That promise is being fulfilled today, here and now.”
