Tinubu upgrades FCEs Kano, Zaria to Federal Universities of Education

* As Senator Barau Hails President Tinubu for the Conversion

Published on

President Bola Tinubu has upgraded the Federal Colleges of Education in Kano and Zaria to Federal Universities of Education, a move that will boost the country’s education system in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

This upgrade aims to increase access to university education and enhance teachers’ education and the teaching profession, which is crucial for the development of all societies.
Senator Barau Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate, applauded President Tinubu for this milestone, stating that it’s a dream come true, as he had previously sponsored two unsuccessful bills for the upgrade.

The conversion is also seen as a testament to President Tinubu’s commitment to the North West geopolitical zone, which faces unique challenges.
The Federal Ministry of Education has issued memos to the two institutions, formalizing the upgrade. Senator Barau congratulated the management, staff, students, and communities of the institutions, urging them to maintain academic excellence.

He also expressed hope that his bill to convert the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Bichi to a Federal University of Education (Technical) would receive similar consideration.
