President Bola Tinubu has announced significant changes to Nigeria’s federal ministries.
At the Federal Executive Council meeting, Tinubu revealed the creation of the Ministry of Regional Development, which will oversee regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, North East Development Commission, and South East Development Commission.
The Ministry of Regional Development will consolidate the functions of various regional development commissions, streamlining efforts to promote regional growth and development.
Additionally, the President directed that the National Sports Commission will take over all sports activities and programs previously handled by the Ministry of Sports Development, effectively scrapping the ministry. This move aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of sports management in Nigeria.
In another key decision, the Ministry of Tourism has been merged with the Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy. This consolidation is expected to foster greater synergy between tourism, arts, and culture, promoting Nigeria’s rich heritage and creative industries.
