    Tinubu receives Buhari’s body, lives for Daura as Amaechi, Tambuwwal, Amosun others throng ex-President hometown

    Dignitaries across the country continue to throng Daura, the hometown and residence of the late former president Muhammadu Buhari, hours ahead of his burial rites.

    Meanwhile, the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari have been taken to Daura, his hometown for burial.

    The body, which had earlier arrived the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, was received by President Bola Tinubu, accompanied by service chiefs and top politicians, who had thronged the airport before the body touched down in a Nigeria Air force jet.

    The body was accompanied by Vice President Kassim Shettima and some members of Buhari’s immediate family, including Aisha, his wife.

    After a brief airport ceremony conducted by the Nigerian military, the body was conveyed by a NAF hearse by road to Daura, Buhari’s hometown where hundreds of thousands of Nigerians had gathered since dawn to pay their last respects to the late former president.

    The town is filled to capacity, with all roads leading into Daura witnessing increased traffic as mourners and officials converge to pay their respects to the former Head of State.

    Among the early comers included, former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; Former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Ali Isa Pantami; Former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun; Ali Modu Sherrif, former governor of Borno and PDP National Chairman; Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Rivers and Minister of Transportation and Dan Amana of Daura; Yahaya Bello, former governor of Kogi State; Aliyu Wammako, former governor of Sokoto State; Aminu Tambuwwal, former governor of Sokoto State; Aminu Masari, former governor of Katsina State,  Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti State and former Minister; Pauline Tallen former Deputy Governor of Plateau and former Minister of Women Affairs
