Thousands of youths from across the 19 northern states staged a solidarity rally on Tuesday in support of Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin, describing him as “the Sardauna of our era.

The peaceful rally was held at the National Assembly entrance in Abuja, with the youths singing praises for the Deputy Senate President.

According to the organizers, the rally aimed to warn those attacking Senator Barau over the Senate’s resolution last Wednesday, allowing tax reform experts to present during the plenary session on Tax Reform Bills.

Senator Barau had suggested allowing experts, including Presidential Committee on Tax Reform Chairman Taiwo Oyedele, to educate senators and Nigerians on the bills.

The youths carried banners with inscriptions such as “Senator Barau: The Sardauna of our era,” “Senator Barau is the new leader of the North,” and “Senator Barau: The pro-masses lawmaker.”

They praised Senator Barau as the best senator in the North, citing his sponsorship of the North West Development Commission bill.

Former NANS President Comrade Tijjani Kabiru Mohammed noted that Senator Barau neither supported nor opposed the Tax Reform Bills; instead, he advocated for public sensitization
