His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on the youth of Sokoto State to embrace entrepreneurship instead of waiting for white-collar jobs.
The Sultan made this appeal on Sunday during a goodwill message at a one-day capacity-building program for members of the Sokoto State Professional Network, held at the Sokoto Guest Inn. Represented by the District Head of Gagi, Alhaji Sani Umar Jabi, he urged participants to actively apply the knowledge gained from the program.
“Let me call on our youths to key into entrepreneurship and be contributors to the nation’s economy. We must stop expecting too much from the government,” the Sultan emphasized.
Chairman of the program, Alhaji Abdulrahman Bashar, described the capacity-building initiative as a unique opportunity to address the rising unemployment rates among the youth. Represented by Mr. Satish Sing, Managing Director of Rahamaniyya Fertilizer Blending Company, Bashar encouraged the youth to engage in activities that would enhance their skills and improve their living standards.

“While seeking white-collar jobs is an option, we must place greater emphasis on entrepreneurship,” he stated. He further advised the youth to consider small-scale businesses as viable means to earn a living.
“Nigeria is blessed with abundant natural resources, and focusing on entrepreneurship will be key to a successful tomorrow,” Bashar added, announcing a donation of two million naira to support the capacity-building program.
In his welcome address, the chairman of the Sokoto Professional Network, Zayyanu Tambari Yabo, assured participants that the resource persons were well-equipped to deliver valuable insights during the program.
