Vice President Kashim Shettima has emphasized the need for stronger ties between the federal government and traditional institutions.
He reaffirmed the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration’s commitment to engaging royal fathers as key stakeholders in national development and social cohesion.
During a visit to Ningi Emirate in Bauchi State, Shettima offered condolences for the late Emir, HRH Alhaji Yunusa Muhammed DanYaya, and congratulated the newly installed Emir, HRH Alhaji Haruna Yunusa Danyaya. He noted that traditional institutions are custodians of culture, values, and history, and play a crucial role in maintaining national unity and societal stability.
Shettima praised the late Emir’s 88 years of service, highlighting his contributions to the nation. He pledged the federal government’s support to the new Emir and emphasized the importance of continuity in leadership.
The Vice President also highlighted the strong connections between the federal government and the Ningi Emirate, mentioning several Bauchi State natives serving in the Presidency.
Earlier, Governor Bala Mohammed thanked Shettima for visiting the state, describing him as a leader who respects everybody. The Governor described the visit as a “double-edged sword” to condole with the people and congratulate the new Emir.

The new Emir thanked Shettima for visiting and commiserating with the Emirate Council over the death of his father.
Dignitaries present included Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, Speaker Abubakar Y. Suleiman, and other senior government officials.
In a separate event, Vice President Shettima visited Kaduna State to commiserate with the Kaduna State Government and family of the late Hon. Justice Tanimu Zailani, former Chief Judge of Kaduna State. Shettima prayed for Allah’s mercy and grant of eternal rest to the deceased.
