Sanwo-Olu enforces dress code for public servants in Lagos

    Published on

The Lagos State Government has directed public servants to comply with the existing dress code, warning that failure to do so will result in sanctions. The Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, issued a circular reiterating the accepted dress code, citing the need to maintain a good image and corporate identity.

The circular states that improper dressing is considered misconduct and will not be tolerated. Specifically, denim or leggings are not allowed, except for site inspections. The dress code for ladies includes:

    – Skirt suits/gowns/dresses: knee-length, moderate slit, not sleeveless, not body-clinging, complete native wear
    – Trouser suits: not tight or revealing, worn with a jacket/long blouse/top

For men, the dress code includes:

    – Suits/shirts/tie/French suits (officers)
    – Shirts and trousers/tie/French suits (junior/clerical staff)
    – Complete native wear (not Agbada, i.e., Buba and Sokoto with Cap)

Failure to comply with the dress code will result in sanctions, as outlined in PSR 040503.
