Last Sunday, the Muslim community came together to honor a man whose life story personifies a blueprint for dedication, integrity, and service.

In a jubilant celebration held inside the sacred walls of Nawair-Ud-Deen Society Central Mosque in Alagbado, friends, family, religious leaders, government dignitaries, and members of the Muslim community gathered in unison to mark the 80th birthday of Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo—a revered leader, astute businessman, and humble servant of Allah.

The atmosphere was filled with warmth, respect, and admiration. As they praise Allah seeking ceaseless blessings for the octogenarian, dignitaries reminisced about the qualities that make Alhaji Oladejo a legendary figure whose impact transcends generations.

A Tribute to a Man of Virtue

Remi Babalola, a distinguished former Minister of State for Finance, was among the luminaries present. With a radiant smile, he lauded Alhaji Oladejo’s fairness and moral uprightness. “He is a leader with high professional capacity and a heart full of justice,” Babalola declared. “He exemplifies what it means to serve humanity with honesty and integrity. Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo is a role model for all, especially those aspiring for success driven by righteousness.”

Adding depth to the occasion, Sheikh Abdul Mojeed Ayinla, Deputy National Missioner of Nawair-Ud-Deen Society, delivered an inspiring lecture on the virtues of aging gracefully in the faith. “Age is not a barrier for Muslims,” he emphasized. “Alhaji Oladejo’s life reflects a ceaseless dedication to Allah, and his relevance in societal, religious, and humanitarian spheres is a testament to his unwavering commitment. Allah has blessed him with the grace to give and serve tirelessly.”

A pillar of philanthropy and support.

The National President of Nawair-Ud-Deen Society, Alhaji Ganiyu Balogun, lauded Alhaji Oladejo as a pillar of philanthropy and support. “His contributions to our organization’s growth are priceless,” he expressed warmly. “His unwavering support and leadership have left an indelible mark. Today, we celebrate not just his age, but his life dedicated to bettering others.”

Alhaji Balogun’s words were echoed by Alhaji Nurudeen Taiwo Giwa, chairman of NUDS Alagbado Branch. “From the very inception of our branch, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo’s moral and financial input has been instrumental,” he noted. “His dedication is truly inspiring. We thank him and wish him even more blessings ahead.”

Unveiling a Biography and Fond Memories

The highlights of the day were the launching of a touching biography titled “Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo @ 80 …inspiring strides of a stockbroking icon”, authored by Gbadebo Akinyemi. The book chronicles his journey from humble beginnings in Ibadan to becoming a titan in Nigeria’s financial sector and a prominent Islamic leader.

A Life of Achievement and Faith

Born in Latoyo’s compound, Oritamerin, Ibadan, in 1945, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo’s journey has been one of relentless pursuit of excellence. Starting his education at Islamic Mission School, he later taught and went on to graduate with a Second Class Upper Division in Economics from the University of Lagos under a federal scholarship.

His career in public service began at the Federal Ministry of National Planning, leading to roles at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and eventually, the Nigerian Stock Exchange—where he pioneered technological innovation with the Automated Trading System.

Yet, beyond his professional accolades, it is his unwavering devotion to Islam and community service that remain his true legacy. As president of MUSWEN and Deputy President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, his influence continues to inspire countless others.

The celebration was more than a birthday party—it was a tribute to a visionary leader whose life exemplifies service, faith, and integrity. Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo’s journey is an inspiring reminder that age, indeed, is just a number when fueled by purpose and devotion.
