    Protest: Police conduct house to house search to recover looted properties in Kano

    Police in Kano have commenced house to house search to recover properties looted by hoodlums during the end bad governance protest in the state.

    The protest which started peacefully later turned violent when it gained momentum.

    The hoodlums wielding different weapons hijacked the protest and looted public and private facilities carting away valuables.

    A resident of Gyadi-Gyadi in Tarauni LGA, Abba Sani said the police stormed the Gyadi-Gyadi area in search of looted properties.

    “I was in my apartment when I heard noise emanating from neighborhood. I came out and was told it was police who stormed our street in search of looted properties. And they recovered some items.

    “Immediately, I picked up my key to check my backyard to ensure no looted property was kept there by this disgruntled elements who are desperate and can go to any extent of getting money,” Sani said.

    Another resident, Khadija Bala said the police stormed into a house in a street behind their house and recovered looted properties.

    “They came to the street behind our house and recovered looted properties in a house. The recovered looted properties include iron rods, pedestrian barriers and new mattress among others.

    “The operatives are still going around, house to house in search of the looted properties,” Bala said.

    The operatives were said to be acting on credible information leading to the recoveries of the looted properties in the state.

    Recall the Kano State Police Command during a briefing said it has arrested not fewer than 326 suspects involved in looting and vandalisation during the protest
