The Kogi State Police Command, in collaboration with a private security outfit, Base SAN Security Nigeria Ltd, has arrested four kidnappers and rescued 10 victims in Ajaokuta.

This breakthrough is attributed to the state government’s efforts to engage registered security outfits to work with conventional agencies.

According to Kingsley Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and Communication, the kidnappers had been terrorizing Ajaokuta, committing crimes such as kidnapping, rape, and robbery.

The state government’s decision to hire a private security outfit led to the arrest of the kidnappers and the rescue of the victims.
Fanwo stated that the arrested kidnappers are cooperating with investigators, and the rescued victims will be reunited with their families.

He emphasized that the state government is committed to making Kogi the safest state in Nigeria.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has pledged to deploy all necessary resources to rid the state of criminal elements.

The commissioner noted that this breakthrough serves as a warning to criminals that the present administration is determined to make Kogi a safe haven for all.

The suspected kidnappers are currently in police custody for further investigation and prosecution. This achievement underscores the effectiveness of the state government’s collaborative efforts with private security outfits to combat insecurity.

This development comes on the heels of a recent report that 134 kidnap victims were rescued in Kogi by a vigilance group ¹. The state’s efforts to combat kidnapping and other crimes are yielding positive results
