A suspected car thief has been arrested over the weekend at Ifego Guest Inn in Jabi, Abuja. The suspect was in possession of a Toyota Corolla that was stolen at gunpoint on May 2, 2024.

Operatives of the FCT Police Command tracked the vehicle to the hotel using digital reconstruction intelligence after a report was made about the stolen car.

Upon searching the suspect, identified as Michael Uke, police found a POS machine, a knife, glass-dissolving chemicals, a military jungle hat, and the vehicle’s original registration number, which had been altered to AGD 146 JP.

SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest and urged residents to report suspicious activities to the police emergency lines.

According to her, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, praised the operatives for their swift response and reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the FCT.

“While the investigation is still ongoing, we reiterate the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of residents of the FCT.

“We further encourage residents of the FCT to report any suspicious activities to the police emergency lines,” Adeh stated.
