THE Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Adewale Adeniyi on Wednesday instructed men and officers of the agency to ensure that ports, border posts and airports remain operational despite the call for a nationwide protest.

Addressing men and officers recently, Adeniyi said that the rights of other Nigerians must not be trampled upon adding officers must be sensitive to the mood of the nation
He said: ” We have to be very very sensitive to the mood of the nation, we must exercise a lot of restraint in dealing with the public at this time.
“Of-course, for us in the service and other security agencies of the government , all Nigerians irrespective of whether you are protester or not you are guaranteed the safety and security to go about our lawful business that we chose to do.
“Our ports must remain in operations, it means that importers who bring in their goods must be able, through themselves or through their agents must be able to access the ports, make declarations and clear their goods.
“If there are passengers arriving through the international airports or through the borders, for those that are departing, they must have the ability to handle their inward and outward clearance. This is the essence of what the government is saying.”
