KANO — The Kano State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Musa Ungogo said the frontline opposition leaders were expected to receive the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso into the party in the state.
The Frontline opposition leaders, he said, include, former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, former governor of River State, Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, former Babachir Lawal and the party’s National Chairman, David Mark among other notable personalities.
The party Chairman, Ungogo in a phone interview with newsmen, described Kwankwaso’s move to join the party as a welcome development.
He said with the development the party witnessed swell / surge in the membership registration into the party.
He said Kwankwaso is set to join the party alongside former commissioners and other appointees who resigned from the Governor Abba Yusuf’s government.
According to him, “the national leader, Akilu Indabawa in conjunction with the chairman of card registration in the state, Auwalu Anwar will carry out the registration of Kwankwaso in his residence.
“We will open 10 registration points in Kwankwaso’s residence.
“There is nothing as good as this. Only yesterday since about four weeks now, we registered 167,000 members. By tomorrow, when he officially joins the party, we look forward to register many more.
“Later and in the week, we will also receive Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna into the party. Similarly, we will open 5 registration points in his residence,” the chairman, Ungogo said.
When contacted, the Kwankwaso backed NNPP chairman, Hashim Dungurawa said he reserved his comments for now.
