Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde and South West leaders of the People’s Democratic Party, received thousands of members from other political parties in Odigbo Council area of Ondo State, ahead of the November 16, governorship election. The decampees are from the All Progressive Congress, Social Democratic Party, Labour Party and NNPP.
This is just as Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa appealed to the electorate in the state to sustain the developmental progress so far made by his administration with their votes during the governorship election.
Governor Makinde of Oyo state, who led the campaign train of the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Agboola Ajayi, to Ore, in Odigbo council area, received the decampees who said that they chose to join the party as a result of the misrule of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
They added that they believed the PDP Governorship Candidate, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, would return the lost glory of the state the moment he is sworn-in as governor in February, 2025.
According to them, the Ondo state government led by Lucky Aiyedatiwa had destroyed all their farmlands and sold some to Chinese investors without any compensation.
The chairman of PDP in Odigbo local government, Prince Sunday Falolo, said that all the people that attended the rally were true products of PDP in the local government, stressing that no one was hired to attend.
The Deputy DG of Campaigns in Ondo South, Pastor Ralph Ademulegun, urged voters to protect their votes on the election day to avoid ballot boxes snatching. Also, a grassroot mobilizer, Shehu Agba said that he left the APC because the party had enslaved Nigerians.
In her reactions, the Ondo State Woman Leader of PDP, Princess Kemisola Adesanya urged women to make use of their voters cards on the election day so that Agboola Ajayi can empower them when he becomes governor of the state next year.
Meanwhile, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state and the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, has told the party’s supporters and members “to translate their overwhelming show of love for him to overwhelming votes. Addressing supporters at Ipe Akoko, Aiyedatiwa said “I am truly touched by the love and support I see here today. This crowd shows the faith you have in what we have achieved together. But I appeal to you, don’t let this love end with today’s welcome. On November 16, I need you to translate it into votes,” he said. He urged the people to recognize the significance of their votes in sustaining the progress his administration has so far made.
“This election is our opportunity to keep moving forward. I appeal to every one of you: let’s consolidate our gains by voting to continue on this path of development,” Aiyedatiwa added.

Aiyedatiwa assured the people that his administration ” is dedicated to fostering sustainable growth and providing people-oriented governance if given the mandate to continue in office.
A member of the Ondo State House of Assembly representing Akoko South-East,Suleiman Murtala, expressed optimism about the All Progressives Congress (APC) prospects in the upcoming election.
“Our party’s chances are very high; the people of Akoko South-East have witnessed the positive impact of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration, from improved infrastructure to social programmes that have touched lives. I believe they will reward this progress with their votes on November 16.This election is about securing the future we’ve built together. We are not just asking for votes; we are asking the people to join hands with us in sustaining the development we’ve started”.
